Kansas City Zoo is voted as one of the best zoos in America and ranked number one in various articles and magazines as well. This zoo houses an extensive collection of African animals you will ever see. From Tiger, Polar Bears, Elephants, Rhinos, Hippos to Chimpanzees and Kangaroos, you can range of wild animals, birds and reptiles. The zoo has around 1300 animals and located in Swope Park. The zoo has different animal themes and divided into African, Australian, Tiger Trail, Kid Zone, and Valley.
How to get to Kansas City Zoo
You can take a car, Bus or Metro to get to the zoo. The Kansas City Zoo is in Swope Park and can be easily accessed from 71 and I-435 highway and minutes from downtown, country club plaza surrounding the metro city. Current zoo hours are 9:30 a.m. – 4 p.m. Weekdays and 9:30 a.m. – 5 p.m. Weekends while the seasonal hours from November– February are 9:30 – 4 p.m. Daily, Memorial-Labor Day: 8 a.m. – 4 p.m. Monday- Friday and 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. Saturday- Sunday. During March, April, May, September, October visiting hours are 9:30 a.m. – 4 p.m. Monday-Friday and 9:30 a.m. – 5 p.m. Saturday-Sunday. The zoo is closed on Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day and New Year’s Day.
Membership and pricing
You can buy Zoo tickets at the main entrance. There are two options available either to through membership and one-time payment. The ticket costs for $16.00 for adults ages 12 and older, $15.00 for seniors ages 55 and older, $13.00 for children ages 3-11 and free admission for children ages 2 and under. There are also option to pay for group travels and school groups. School group rates are $7 per person and for groups of 20 or more, specific arrangements can be done by contacting the official website or over email.
